Day 153. Drop what you know. Get rid of what you must. Shift your vision. This will change your world. These words are the theme of my week, so it’s no surprise that I was jazzed about the universe’s random workings allowing me to pull this card out of the box today. Today, while I was preparing to assist the 4 pm class at the Funky Buddha, Ryan, a regular and super smiley nice guy, and I were talking about Sunday’s class and my coach teach experience. During that class, I suggested without really giving the option not to, for the class to jump into crow from downward facing dog. Ryan did, and landed it. It was so awesome that I think I actually shouted out “Yeah, Ryan!” during class, then sort of forgot about it until today when he brought it up to me. Ryan said not only had he never done it before, he had never even tried it before. He thanked me for just saying “jump into crow”, not giving him an option or time to think, because he [inadvertently] dropped what he knew about what he could and couldn’t do and simply DID it! For this reason, I gave Ryan the card. I sort of got a weird look at first and then described why I thought these words were so perfect for his jump into crow (and ultimately, everything we learn on our mat can be translated into our life…you get the idea.) Then, like a dork, the words “Don’t think I’m crushin’ on you because I gave you a quote card, Richard got one too!” blurted out of my mouth. How embarrassing. Both Richard and Ryan found this hilarious. And I officially win the award for sticking my foot in my mouth on a regular basis. This reminds me of a quote I read recently on love:
Platonic love is love from the neck up. ~ Thyra Samter Winslow
So maybe I just platonic love a lot of people and like giving them little quote cards. But that sounds super weird and creepy too.
